West Wycombe, the Hellfire Club and Hughenden Manor

We begin our walk in West Wycombe,  home of the Hellfire Club - the notorius 18th century society founded by Sir Francis Dashwood, whose family owned West Wycombe House (now National Trust).

Our climb up to the ridge passes the Dashwood Mausoleum and the pretty church of St Lawrence, after which our path levels out for about 1.5 miles before we descend to the village of Bradenham.  We then head up through woods to Naphill Common and on towards Hughenden Manor (National Trust) where we can make a stop for toilets and coffee if needed.

Our route then takes us through Downley as we wend our way back to West Wycombe.
