Chesham and the Chilterns

Join us as we explore the undulating countryside around Chesham, with wide views and woods in the Chiltern Hills.  Along the way we pass near the villages of Chesham Bois and through Hyde Heath.

We will be walking mainly on rough paths over hills, across fields and through woods with uneven ground.

Bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink, particularly if it's s hot day.   We plan to stop for our lunch break near The Plough pub in Hyde Heath where you should be able to buy a drink, but we will not be there long enough to purchase food.

Chesham's earliest records as a settlement date back to the second half of the 10th century, although archaeological evidence suggests human activity in the area as far back as 8000 BC. The town is situated in the Chess Valley, surrounded by farmland, and has been a significant location throughout history due to its strategic position and resources
